Back to reality

Hey guys. Camping wasn’t great, but I survived. I’m reading Jane Eyre, 450 pages, right now, which is why you haven’t heard from me since before the trip. Sorry! I promise to be up and running as soon as I can put down the book for like a second. My literature class is very interesting to say the least. Here’s an old art piece to console you. “Puppy” from 2011 I believe. Talk to you soon.

Clip Studio Paint competition!

So, Clip Studio Paint apparently has a competition on the theme “space” so I decided to give it a shot. Here’s my progress so far. I’m also posting more progress on Melanie Martinez’s face. I really like how the hair is turning out. Obviously not done yet and very unsure of how to fix the nose, but I’m gonna do it. We’re going camping this weekend, so I’ll probably not be able to get her done until next week though – even though I said I’d be done this weekend. Sorry!

Who was she..? Continuing my wip..

So, a few of you may have figured out by now that the portrait is of the ever so beautiful Melanie Martinez. She’s so unique, it’s hard not to be enamored by her look. So, this is how far I’ve come today while also studying Shakespeare. I feel like such an art student although I’m not.. Anyway. Her nose got super small, so I’m very unhappy with that. I don’t know if I can fix it or not without ruining the whole thing though..

Trying something new

Faces are hard, right? For some people, at least. For me, at least. I’ve always had a hard time finding the lines, shadows and highlights in people’s faces. And the symmetry, the goddamn symmetry… I don’t find faces as rational as the human body. There are so many differences in one person’s face compared to the next. But a body is and always will be a body. No one’s reeeaally gonna question if that nude body you drew was reeeaaally that celeb or that family member or that friend. But their face? There’s a lot that has to be perfect for a face to look like a face. And I don’t do perfect. But hey, honesty I do. So here’s me trying something new. I won’t tell you who it is, because it doesn’t really matter. Maybe you’ll figure it out when I’m done with her. I had to photo trace parts of her eyes though since they went to hell. Now the photo is just side-by-side again though. I think plants are more my vibe. But practice makes perfect, isn’t that so? /Angelimate

New stuff – minimalistic designs?

So, I’m treading lightly ahead with both my photography and my illustration. I never know exactly what to draw or take a photo of – but I always get something worthwhile in the end. I guess what I’m saying is: life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you’re gonna get. And art is the same, I suppose. The outcome is never foreseen. Anyhow, these are 2 small sketches I did late last night. They are both based on photos, one random one from Google and the bird one is based on a photo I took myself. Tell me what you think! They obviously need working on, they’re very simple. But like the deer, they’re simplistic/minimalistic in design which I believe there’s a market for. Tattoos, prints on shirts, mugs, bags? Who knows what the future holds? /Angelimate

Good bye Wix, hello WordPress!

Hello again, fellow artists and those interested in the arts. (Because I’m guessing that’s why you’re here after all..) A short blog post for you now as I’m soon heading to bed. I’m launching this website tomorrow (June 18th) and I’m looking forward to it. Having my own domain – it’s crazy! Is it not? I feel totally whacko over here. Nervous and anxious everything that comes with those feelings. But also super excited. I would love to promote my website and my art on Facebook through their ads again, but truth be told I’m not really “there” yet financially. It ruined me to have to pay 200 SEK the other month because I actually hadn’t got my money from student loans yet. Well, enough of that sob story.. We are all in financial crisis now, I suppose. It wasn’t the best time to graduate from uni, to be honest with you.

I wanted to tell you that when I had a birthday at the beginning of the month, I actually got a Wacom Intuos (small one with bluetooth) so I can evolve my artistry. I’m already much better at digital illustration and can handle brushes much easier. So, it was a great gift. Thanks to the person who bought it for me! My point is, I’ll hopefully have more digital illustrations for you, finished ones I should add, than I had with the other website. So.. New website with my own domain, an actual tablet and pen for digital painting and.. Now the only thing missing is the store itself. Which will come eventually. This is just my 2nd month of doing this, so I’m taking things slow. I’m also taking a class in literature right now, until August 16th. So I’m not 100% free anymore. Despite this, I will work hard towards this goal and I will not let you down.

P.S. I moved my old blog posts over from Wix to WordPress so both you and I can keep track of my progress with this business. Thanks for being here!
